We are celebrating Earth Day in a few days' time, and since we are living in a place we call Earth, we all share the responsibility in keeping it clean, green and safe. Oops. Yeah, you just heard the word
RESPONSIBILITY. Sounds pretty heavy, huh? But in this case, responsibility is made up of easy simple steps which you can even enjoy doing. Think of these steps not as chores but more of safety precautions or even fun-filled activities. This way you not only get to save Mother Earth but as well live a healthy lifestyle and a good bonding time with your friends.
Here are a few simple tips you can do today (and yeah, eventually, everday! haha):
1.
Get a house plant. Why not try taking care of plants in your house? There are a lot of small, low-maintanance plants available in garden shops which you can place by your bedroom window. These plants not only help promote a greener environment-they actually keep your place cool and well-ventilated.
2.
Switch off all appliances and lights when not in use. Most fire incidents come from short-circuits and overused appliances. So, if you don't want to cause a fire in your dorm, practice switiching off all your unused appliances when you're not using them. Unplug these appliances too whenever you leave the house.
3.
Recycle! For sure you have tons of non-biodegradable garbage ranging from papers to plastics, bottles and cans. Try to do weekly task of segregating these stuff and see which ones you can reuse, send to the garbage can, as well as those which you can earn money from! There are junk shops that buy paper, plastics and glass bottles which can pay for your weekend lunch.
4.
Join an org. Try to be active in Earth Day events or discussion groups. You not only learn new and exciting ideas on how to save the environment, you also get to know new people. You need not actually join events in person-there are a lot of e-groups which you can subscribe via the Internet.
These are only a few steps which you can do in a jiffy. You can also tag your friends along so you can create a bonding activity. So c'mon people, let's celebrate Earth Day!
College life is actually more exciting than you think.
